Gladys Marie (Goring) Johnson, 99, died May 15, 2009 at Windmill Manor after a long illness.

Gladys was born on July 22, 1909 in Charles City, Iowa. She married Hjalmar Nathaniel Johnson in 1927 in Minneapolis, MN. They moved from Minneapolis to Iowa Falls and then to St. Louis, MO., where he was a vice-president of Ralston Purina Company. They were married for 67 years. Gladys volunteered for over 30 years at St. Luke’s Hospital in St. Louis. Among her many hobbies she was known for the beautiful Faberge type eggs that she decorated.

She is survived by her son Bruce (Reggie) L. Johnson of Oswego, IL, son-in-law Thomas H. Kent of Iowa City, 9 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren. Gladys was preceded in death by her husband, son Curtis L. Johnson, and daughter Ann L. Kent.
