Ruth T. Clow, 92, of Louisiana, Missouri formerly of Iowa City, died Thursday, May 21, 2009, at a care center in Louisiana.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Sunday, May 24, 2009, at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service, with burial at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Iowa City. Ruth T. Boykin was born August 31, 1916, in Wilson County, North Carolina the daughter of Stephen T. and Nettie (Dew) Boykin. She graduated from Rock Ridge High School in 1934 and attended Atlantic Christian College. Ruth married Kenneth P. Clow on December 1, 1944, in Suffolk, Virginia. She began a career in nursing at the Ottumwa Hospital, Ottumwa, Iowa, later she and her family moved to Iowa City where she continued in the nursing profession at the Veterans Administration Hospital. Here she was a member of St. Mark's United Methodist Church.
Her family includes her son, Kenneth P. Clow, Jr. (Pat) of Shawnee, Kansas; daughters, Jacquelyn Singer of Clarksville, Missouri and Carolyn Llewellyn of Sparks, Nevada; grandchildren, Kelley Wehmeyer (Tom), Shannon Singer, Sue Hemmen (Dan); great-grandchildren, Danielle Black, Carolyn and Christine Weymeyer, Courtney, Austin, Jessica Hemmen; sisters, Jodie Cook of Burlington, North Carolina, Joyce (Jack) Tarbox and Audrey (Al) Brady, all of Goldsboro, North Carolina.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Kenneth; son-law-law, Dallas Singer; two brothers, Keith and Thomas Boykin and sister, Genie Boykin.
