Peter, better known as “Pete” 74, of 1310 Foster Road died Monday, February 9, 2009 surrounded by his loving family at VAMC of complications from pulmonary fibrosis.

Pete was born August 21, 1934 in Iowa County, the son of Peter and Theresa Driscoll
Duffey. He was raised in rural Iowa City and Lone Tree, and served in the US Army from 1955 to 1958. Pete married Patricia Rose on May 9, 1956 at St. Wenceslaus Church in Iowa City.

Pete was a local building contractor for 32 years, retiring in 2002.

He was a resident of Oxford for a number of years, where he had served on the City Council.

Pete is survived by his wife of 52 years and their three children and seven grandchildren,
Peter “Joe” Duffy (Mary Jo) of Iowa City and their sons Jacob, Nathan, and Logan; Glenn Duffy (Irene) of Iowa City and their children Ryan and Erin; and Rachel Johnson (Gerard) of Kalona and their children Kenny and Sara; three sisters, Lavera Muller (Roy) of Iowa City, Theresa Samuelson (LaVern) of Boone, and Anne Pauley (Glenn) of Coralville; two brothers, Daniel Duffey (Margie) of Lone Tree and Paul Duffey (Jean) of Iowa Park, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pete was preceded in death by his parents, two children, Jimmy and Regina and five siblings, Mary Agnes Schneider, Eugene, Richard, Regis and Harold, and one grandson, Adam.
