Alan R. Martin, 63, of 923 Spring Ridge died Saturday, March 14, 2009 from a
sudden heart ailment and his friend of many years, Fred “Tree” Austin, 63, died
Sunday, March 15, 2009 at Windmill Manor Care Center.

Graveside Services for both Alan and Fred “Tree” will be held Wednesday, March 25th, 2009 at 3pm in the Old Section of St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Friends will meet near the front gate of Oakland Cemetery on Brown Street just prior to the service. They will then process to the gravesite.

Alan was born February 13, 1946 in Keokuk. He was an active member of AA and proud of his 21 years of sobriety, and a member of the Church of God. He is survived by six daughters, Sally Martin of Monticello, Tina Martin of Cedar Rapids, Mary Martin of Iowa City, Amy Stroud of North Liberty, Angie Deikman of Muscatine and Tracy Valle of Indiana; 8 grandchildren; several sisters and brothers.

Fred “Tree” was born March 12, 1943. Tree and Al were both long time employees of Yellow Cab Company. Tree is survived by his father, Fred Oscar Hodges of Banning, CA; one brother, David Hodges of Los Angeles and extended family.

Al and Tree were longtime friends and will be missed.
