Lavone Marie Thomae, 81, of Iowa City, died Wednesday, March 18, 2009 after a lingering illness. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 am, Monday, March 23, 2009 at St. Patrick’s Parish Hall, Iowa City with visitation one hour prior at the church. The Very Reverend Rudolph Juarez will officiate. Burial at St. Joseph’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Patrick’s Catholic Church or Iowa City Hospice.

Lavone was born December 4, 1927 in Iowa City to Thomas and Loretta (Draker) Loney. She graduated from St. Patrick’s High School in 1946. She married Edward James Thomae August 28, 1947 at St. Patrick’s Rectory. Lavone worked over 30 years at UIHC and retired in July, 1990. She was a life-long member of St. Patrick’s Church.

Lavone is survived by five sons; Ron Thomae and (Deb Stumme); Alan Thomae; Steve Thomae (Vicki) all of Iowa City; Jim Thomae (Merry) of Lone Tree; Ed, Jr. Thomae of Coralville; 10 grandchildren, Melanie, Jennifer, Eric, John, Laurie, Jim, Dusty, Lisa, Clint and Kyle and four great grandchildren; Ariel, Olivia, Waverly and Jackson, sister Darlene (Don) Zeman and sisters-in-law Doris Thomae and Delores Loney.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and two brothers.
