Luther W Fountain, son of William and Sarah Fountain, was born April 20, 1862 near Lone Tree, Iowa and spent most of his life near the place where he was born. Later he moved to Becker, Minnesota where he passed away at his home May 28, 1929 at the age of 69 years 1 month and 8 days. On February 24, 1892 he was united in marriage to Miss Cora Cox at Monnette, Union County, Iowa. To this union were born 6 children as follows: Earl of Goodyear, Arizona; Mrs. Pearl Hamacher, Mrs. Alice Murphey of Flint, Michigan; Mrs. Vera Culbertson of Hartland, Minnestoa; and 2 who passed away in infancy. 19 grandchildren, 4 sisters and 1 brother also survive.

Music at the service was furnished by Mr. and Mrs. Forrest Atkin, Mr. and Mrs. John Sprangler and Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd F Burr. The pallbearers were: J.D. and J. R. Musser, H. L Fountin, James Goody, J.M. Sims and John Stoper. Interment was made in the Fountain Cemetery. Those from a distance present were Mr. and Mrs. Sam Miller, Hills; Mrs. Stella Murphy. Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Murphy, Mrs. Godfrey Abbey and Mrs. John Fisher of Curlew; Mrs. and Mrs. Glenn Miller, Mrs. and Mrs. A. Hoffmann, Mr. and Mrs. Jos. Murphy. Mr. and Mrs. Thos. Peppler and Mrs. Ella Pinney, Iowa City; Mr. and Mrs. George Fountain and Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Fountain. Sharon Twp; Mr. and Mrs. William Kahrs, Jr. Kalona.
