AGED RESIDENT IS BURIED TUESDAY

Mrs. Sarah Fountain Passes At Advance age. Is Buried Tuesday

Mrs. Sarah Fountain, well known Johnson county pioneer, passed away at her old home northwest of Lone Tree early Sunday morning after a prolonged illness brought on by old age. Her condition during the past few years has not been the best, but she has remaiend, cheerful and despite her advanced age, she enjoyed company and took an interest in those about her.

The funeral services were held from the home at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday and burial was made in the Fountain cemetery northwest of Lone Tree. Rev. C.C. Goltry had charge of the service; music was furnished by Mrs. Edith Walker, Mrs. Zella Spangler, Miss Zelda Lingo and Rev. C.C. Goltry. The pallbeares were selected from among her relatives The following obituary was read at the service.

Mrs. Sarah Fountain, wife of William Fountain, was a resident of Johnson County for 74 years. She passed away at 7:45 Sunday morning, November 25, 1928. She was one of the oldest settlers, having come to this county in 1854. She was born in Gilford County, North Carolina, Nov. 3, 1836, making her age at the time of her death, 92 years and 22 days.

In March 1855 she was united in marriage to William Fountain. To this union were born eleven children. Four of these died in infancy; Samuel died December 15, 1922 and six survive their mother. Those living are, Mrs. Levi Fountain, Luther of Minnesota, Emma Fountain who has cared for her mother for the last few years, Mrs. Estella Murphy, Henry Fountain and Mrs. Rhoda Ann Smith. Mr. Fountain preceeded his wife in death Oct. 16, 1910

Mrs. Fountain leaves to mourn her passing besides her sons and daughters, 20 grandchildren and a number of great grandchildren. She was a good woman, a kind wife and mother, a faithful homemaker and an esteemed neighbor.
