OLD SETTLER CALLED
William L Fountain, a resident of Johnson County for 63 years; passsed away Sunday at his home northwest of Lone tree. He was one of the oldest settlers in the county and leaves a large number of relatives to mourn his departure.

William Lindsey Fountain, born May 27, 1826; died
Oct. 16, 1910; aged 84 years, 3 months and 19 days.

William Fountain was born in Guilford Co., North Carolina, came to Johnson County, Iowa in 1847 and stayed until the time of his death.

In March, 1855 he was married to Sarah Fountain who was also a native of North Carolina. To them were born eleven children, four of whom died in infancy. Seven children, are living. They are
Alda, wife of Levi Fountain: Luther, Emma, Hannah Estell Murphy, Henry Elmer, Samuel and Rhoda Ann, wife of Geo. Smith.

The funeral was held Tuesday from the home at 10:00 a.m. conducted by Rev. D Phillips. Interment in the Fountain Cemetery.
