Jim Gilmore, 65

Jim Gilmore died at Mercy Hospital Monday afternoon, April 6, 2009, after a sudden illness. The family will greet friends from 4-6 p.m. Thursday April 9, 2009 at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service. A time of sharing will start at 6:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Hallie Gilmore Education Fund.

Born in Rochester, Minnesota on November 25, 1943, Jim grew up in Sonoma, California. Jim attended elementary school and high school in Sonoma. He received his degree in Economics from UC Santa Barbara. He served in the US Army in Viet Nam as a Medical Service Corp Officer.

Jim moved to Iowa City in 1980 and established Zephyr Copies. It was here that he met and married Julie Eichenberger, PhD, and where his daughter Hallie Jean was born.

Jim leaves his wife Julie, daughter Hallie; brothers Tim Gilmore and Kim Gilmore and sister Stephanie Gilmore. He leaves many good friends in Iowa City, across the country and throughout the world.

All will remember Jim's wit, his boisterous laugh, his direct manner, and his deep enjoyment of his many interests.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents.
