SIRE AND SON DEAD

ORRIN AND CHARLES ANDREWS PASS AWAY ON THE SAME DAY

The Former, a Johnson County Pioneer, Survives His Son Only a Few Hours. Both Consigned to the Grave at Morse Today.

The people of Johnson county are grieved to learn of the death of two of the most highly esteemed residents of this locality, Orrin Andrews and his son, Charles, both passing away Saturday at their home one mile southeast of Morse.

Charles Andrews died Saturday morning at 1:30, the cause of his death being pneumonia. Several weeks ago, his hand was practically torn off in a corn shredder, a severe cold followed, later developing into pneumonia. Mr. Andrews was born in Johnson County and has lived here forty years. He is mourned by a multitude of friends who esteemed him for his many admirable qualities.

Orrin Andrews died the same evening about 7:30, after a week's illness. A week ago today he was picked up unconscious in the feed yard, the direct cause of his death being a paralytic stroke. He was in his 77th year at the time of his death.

Mr. Andrews was born in Richland County, New York, December 9, 1825. He came to Johnson county in 1854 and since that period he and his family have been constant residents of Graham township. He has been one of the representative, prosperous general agriculturists of the county and was an honored pioneer settler, for nearly fifty years having been prominently identified with the leading interests of the state and county. He has held various offices of local trust, the duties of which he has always performed with faithful efficiency.

Mr. Andrews leaves a wife and three daughter, Mrs. A. E. Page of Graham township, Mrs. J. R. Cozine of Chicago and Mrs. Isaac Miller of California.

To the sorrowing mother and wife, and to the bereaved daughters and sisters, the entire community extend heart felt sympathy in their dual affliction.

The funeral of father and son took place this afternoon at 2 o'clock from the family residence, interment in Morse cemetery.
