John P. Graham, age 87 of Solon, formerly of North Liberty and Tiffin, died Monday, February 10, 2003 at the Solon Nursing Care Center in Solon.

Graveside Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, February 13, 2003, at the Tiffin Cemetery where military honors will be provided. There will be a time of visitation from 4 to 8 p.m., Wednesday at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City. A memorial fund has been established in John’s memory. Mr. Graham was born February 8, 1916, in Knoxville, Iowa the son of Frank and Idella (Russel) Graham. He married Dorothy Rockwell on July 16, 1938, in Oskaloosa, Iowa. During World War II, he served his country in the Infantry of the United States Army, receiving the Purple Heart. For many years, John drove for the Ruan Company of this area. During this time, he received numerous safety awards from the company. John and Dorothy lived over forty years in Tiffin before moving to North Liberty. They left North Liberty in July of 2000 to make their home at the care center in Solon.

John was a member of the Walter Johnson Post No. 721 of the Coralville American Legion.

His family includes his wife, Dorothy; daughters and their husbands, Sally and Steve Simpson and Johnita and Ron Langenberg all of Tiffin; son, James Graham; grandchildren, Lisa and her husband, Glenn Gerard, Stephanie Horning, Lori and her husband, Mike Stopko, Susan and her husband, Chad Robeoltman, and Jake Graham; great-grandchildren, Nash Stopko, Beau Gerard, Mitchell Stopko, Lauren Stopko, Cooper Horning, Zachary Robeoltman, and Taylor Robeoltman.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and three brothers, Leonard, Don and Harold Graham.
