SIRE AND SON

Orrin Andrews' Death Follows Close Upon That of Charles Andrews

Death twice in rapid sequence knocked at the door of the Andrews home near Morse Saturday.

As already related herein, Charles Andrews passed away at 1:30 in the morning. The aged father and head of the household, Orrin Andrews fell asleep about 7:30 in the evening.

The bereaved wife and mother, even now lies seriously ill at the same doubly afficted home, and the prayers of neighbors and city friends will go out hourly for her recovery.

The death of Orrin Andrews takes from Graham township a long time justice of the peace and from Johnson County one of the most familiar figures. Among the old settlers none was better know and none was more truly respected than this sturdy pioneer, whom a host of friends admired.

Mr. Andrews was in his 77th year, and had lived here almost continuously for nearly 65 years. He came here in 1838-the vanguard of Johnson county's noble pioneers arrived then and spent his time since then in this county except about a year during which he resided in Pennsylvania. He was stricken down recently with a paralytic affliction and has failed steadily until the end.

He was a thrifty, industrious and honest man, and gathered about him many evidences of his busy life. A fine farm of about 300 acres is one of these tokens.

Mr. Andrews is survived by a wife and three daughters.

A dual funeral held at the stricken home this afternoon at 2 o'clock marked the laying at rest of the aged pioneer and his son.
