Frank Strub

Frank J. Strub, 78, of 67 Bon-Aire Mobile Home Lodge, died Tuesday morning at the Iowa City Care Center following an extended illness.

Services will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at the Donohue Mortuary, with the Rev. Roy Wingate officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Visitation has begun.

He was born July 2, 1899, in Iowa City, a son of John and Mary Bolei Strub. On Dec. 26, 1921, he married Beatrice Benda in Iowa City.

A graduate of Irish Business College, he was a deputy recorder for Johnson County until 1927. He was employed 32 years by the Iowa City Post Office before retirement in 1959.

He was a member of the Elks Lodge, Knights of Pythias and was a past governor of the Loyal Order of Moose.

Survivors include three sons, Robert and Donald of Iowa City and Frank Jr., of Des Moines; one brother, Charles of Iowa City, and nine grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife and two brothers.
