Mrs. Kessler Dies; Rites Set
Mrs. Dorothea Kessler, 93, of Route 5, died at 8:30 p.m. Saturday in a local nursing home after an illness of two months.
Mrs. Kessler was born near Solon October 3, 1865, the daughter of Frederick and Finette Miller Schley. She was married to Lewis L. Kessler in 1886.
The couple lived near Solon, later coming to the Iowa City area. Mrs. Kessler was a member of the Methodist Church.
Survivors include three sons, Fred and Francis, both of Iowa City, and Doran, of Chattanooga, Tenn.; two daughters, Mrs. Charles Strub, of Iowa City, and Mrs. Joseph Buchmayer, of Route 5; nine grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren; two brothers and four sisters.
Her husband, a son, Buford, and two brothers and two sisters preceded her in death.
Services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the Oathout funeral chapel with the Rev. L.L. Dunnington officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery.
