FRANK MAHANA
(Franklin B. Mahana)
from the Iowa City newspaper
Wednesday April 29, 1885
“Iowa City and Vicinity”

The funeral of the late Frank Mahana occurred Sunday afternoon from the family residence, a large number of friends being in attendance. This death removes from us one of the six sons left by that much beloved old citizen and brave soldier, Capt. (Bradley) Mahana. The business circles of the State of Iowa have felt the beneficial influence of these six sturdy boys, the youngest of whom was Frank, a very popular, whole-sould (soled) young man, who had only attained the age of thirty-three. Such deaths are always sad, but in this case it is peculiarly so and the sympathy of many friends go out to the bereaved family.
(Note: Franklin B. Mahana was a son of Captain Bradley Mahana and Catherine Seals. He was born 12 Apr 1847 Waynesburg, Greene Co PA and died 24 Apr 1885 in Iowa City, Johnson Co IA. He was buried in Oakland Cemetery, Iowa City, IA. He married Laura Dell Mygatt 29 Sep 1873 in Iowa City, IA.)
