Catherine M. Aman, age 84 of 320 S. Dubuque Street, Iowa City died Tuesday, January 21, 2003 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City following a long illness.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, January 24, 2003 at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City. Burial will be at the Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery in Cedar Rapids.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7pm today and after 9:00 am Friday until services at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City. A memorial Fund has been established in her memory. Condolences may be sent to Catherine’s family through our web site at www.gayandciha.com.

Catherine was born January 14, 1921 in Quincy, Illinois, the daughter of Frank and Mary (Wand) Hoebing. She graduated from Notre Dame High School in Quincy, and received her nursing degree from a nursing college in Illinois. She worked as a registered nurse at the Blessing Hospital in Quincy, and in Iowa City at Mercy Hospital, University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, and a number of nursing homes in the Iowa City and Cedar Rapids areas. She was married to Lloyd C. Aman who died August 15, 1983.

Her family includes a daughter, Lamona M. Aman and her special friend, Nolan Stutzman of North Liberty; brothers, Philibert Hoebing, OFM, Quincy College, Quincy, IL, Leo and his wife, Jean Hoebing of Grants Pass, OR and Clarence Hoebing of Quincy, Il; sister, Sister Vivian Hoebing of Brazil; sister-in-law, Mary Hoebing of Quincy, IL.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother, Fred Hoebing and sister, Mary Luse.
