Mary Cecelia Donohoe, 91, formerly of 320 S. Dubuque Street in Iowa City, died Saturday, March 19, 2005 at Solon Nursing & Rehab Center after a lingering illness.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday at 10:00 am at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Iowa City with The Very Reverend Rudolph T. Juarez officiating. Friends may call Tuesday at Lensing Funeral Service in Iowa City from 3:00 to 8:00 pm where a parish rosary will be recited at 6:15 pm. Burial will be in St. Peter’s Cemetery in Cosgrove.
Memorials may be directed to the Mary C. Donohoe Memorial Fund.
Mary was born May 25, 1913 in Oxford, Iowa, the daughter of William E. & Kathryn (Curry) Holland. She graduated from Cosgrove High School. Mary married John E. Donohoe February 7, 1932 at St. Peter’s Church in Cosgrove.
Mary is survived by her children: Shirley Burnett (Don) of Iowa City, Virginia Shaw (Leon) of Ankeny, Iowa, Lois Kral of Peoria, Arizona, Larry Donohoe (Jan) of Iowa City, Mary Kay Hull of Iowa City, Robert Donohoe (Tammy) of Iowa City, William Donohoe (Chere) of Des Moines, Kathy Wombacher (Jack) of Arden Hills, Minnesota, Richard Donohoe (Valerie) of Iowa City, James Donohoe of Muscatine, Iowa, 34 grandchildren 45 great grandchildren, Sister in Law, Winifred Holland of Iowa City. Several nieces & nephews
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1954, three brothers, Paul, Francis & William Holland, one sister, LaVella Kern, one grandson, Michael Shaw, two great grandchildren, Anthony Hendershot & Jessica Donohoe and two sons in law, Wayne Hull & Milo Kral.
