Raymond Slade 63, of Iowa City died suddenly Sunday, July 6, 2008.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 11, 2008 at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City. Burial will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Iowa City. Visitation will be Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in his name. Raymond Slade was born June 1, 1945 in Iowa City the son of George H. and Edith L. (Teague) Slade. He attended the Iowa City School system, following school he worked for Slade Brothers Roofing Co. until working for the Coralville Hy-Vee Store. Raymond worked for Hy-Vee for 35 years and retired in 2006.

He was a Handyman who would help anyone; he enjoyed picking up pop cans and spending time at the casino.

Raymond's family includes sister, Shirley Slade-Lesher of Westside, IA; brothers, Donald "Tucker" Slade (Anita), of Coralville, Robert Slade (Sandy) of Kissimmee, FL, Richard "Dick" Slade of Iowa City, David Slade of North Liberty, Michael Slade of North Liberty; two sisters-in-law, Donna Slade of Coralville, and Deloris Slade of Coralville and many loving nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, George W. ("Billy) Slade, Kenneth Slade, Russell Slade, Daniel Slade; brother-in-law, Ross Lesher Sr.; and sister-in-law, Roberta Slade.
