Longtime Resident of Scott Township Succumbs

Mr. George Jensen, 70, a longtime resident of Scott township, died at 3 o'clock Sunday morning at Mercy hospital. He had been in failing health for about a year.

Born September 7, 1868, at Sundby Mors, Denmark, he came to this country in 1891 and farmed in Scott township for almost a half century.

He was married to Johanna Marie Anderson on March 5, 1897. Surviving are the widow, five children, Mrs. Agnes Sexton, of Downey; Mrs. Louis Klein, of Tiffin; Silvia, at home; John, Scott township, and Alfred, of Coralville. Three children preceded him in death.

Also surviving are 21 grandchildren and the following brothers and sisters: Harold, of Racine, Wisc.; Wiggo, of Iowa City; and Pete, Peder, Kresten, Marie, Maren and Karen, all residing in Denmark.

He was a member of the Lutheran church of West Branch and of the Modern Woodmen of America.

Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock tomorrow afternoon at the Oathout funeral chapel, with the Rev. Mr. Ehrlander of West Branch in charge. Burial will be in the Brick Chapel cemetery.
