From The Lone Tree Reporter, Lone Tree, Iowa of Thursday, January 19, 1933:

MRS. HENRY COLBERT PASSES SATURDAY

Succumbs to Illness of Long Duration
Funeral Held Monday

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at two o'clock for Mrs. Henry Colbert, who passed away at her home early Saturday morning after a prolonged illness. The services were conducted by Rev. R. L. Brown, at the local Methodist church.

Burial was in Lone Tree cemetery.

Lucina was the daughter of Fred and Emoline Carl. She was born in Cedar county, near Tipton, Iowa, on June 14, 1864 and died at her home on January 14, 1933 aged 68 years 7 months 10 days.

On November 16, 1887, she was united in marriage to Henry Colbert. To this union were born two children - Mrs. Mable E. Shingledecker, Muscatine, and Mrs. T. N. Brown of Nichols.

While yet a young girl, she joined the M.E. church and remained a faithful and greatly beloved member to the last. Industry, courage and determination characterized her life from childhood until death came to free her pain tortured body. Her mother died when she was in her early teens but she immediately assumed many of the responsibilities of a mother to the younger children. Later she taught school.

She was for many years a victim of an uncontrollable malady but never did she recount her suffering to others, but bore her infirmities with a fortitude that characterized the early Christian martyrs.

Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. G. V. Baker, Lone Tree, and Mrs. W. E. Donham, Nichols, Iowa; and four brothers, Dr. F. F. Carl, Nichols; J. R. Carl of Farragut, Iowa, Elard, Columbia, Mo., and E. D. of Lone Tree; one half-sister, Miriam, of Cedar Rapids, and four grandchildren - Townsend and Loren Brown, Nichols, and Margaret, Carl, and Lillian Shingledecker of Muscatine.
