Born June 29, 1914, in Solon, Iowa, she was the daughter of Kasper and Mary Holecek. A 1931 graduate of Solon High School she began working in Iowa City at Mercy Hospital as part of the kitchen staff in 1935 and continued there for the next 20 years. She married Vernon Wilson February 26, 1951, in Anamosa, Iowa. Her career moved her to the kitchen at the University Hospital School for another fifteen years when she retired in 1982.

An avid Hawkye fan Alma never missed a home football game until 10 years ago. Once Kinick Stadium became difficult to navigate, Alma utilized her walkman to pretend she was in the stadium. An avid gardener, she loved her mums and tended to them with loving care.

Alma was a member of the First Methodist Church of Iowa City. In addition to following the Hawkeye's, Alma was a supporter of the athletic programs at local Iowa City public schools, especially Iowa City West.

Alma is survived by a daughter, Karen Lee Wilson, of Iowa City; son, Jerry Wilson (Sue), of Ogden, Iowa, formerly of Mt. Pleasant. Her two grandchildren, Maggie of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and Megan of Ogden, Iowa, gave her great joy. Her husband, Vernon Wilson preceded her in death as did her sister Elsie McMahan and brother Joe Holecek.
