Clarence W. Binz. 88 formerly of 2254 S. Riverside Drive, Iowa City died Friday, January 11, 2008, at the Lantern Park Nursing and Rehab Center in Coralville due to an extended illness.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 15, 2008 at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City. Burial will be at the Oxford Cemetery in Oxford, Iowa. Visitation will be after 10 a.m. until services at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers a memorials may be made to the Visiting Nurses Association of Iowa City or the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Clarence W. Binz was born April 15, 1919, in Iowa County, Iowa the son of Johanna Binz. He was united in marriage to Helen Kopf on October 29, 1941 in Lancaster, Missouri. Clarence and Helen lived in Iowa county for many years before moving to Iowa City. For nearly twenty years Clarence worked for the University of Iowa in Food Service.

Clarence's favorite hobby was playing pool, and he was quite good at it. He liked playing around Iowa City and beating young college students.

His family includes his children, Walter Binz of Iowa City, James Binz of Chicago, IL; and Darlene Hosier (Don) of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; five grandchildren Donna Kay Binz-Smith, Wally Binz, Johnny Binz, Robert Hosier, John Hosier, and seven great grandchildren Sonny Smith, Jessica Smith, Terry Jr. Smith, Camden Peeples, Brenna Hosier, Skyler Hosier, and Carson Hosier

He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen on October 7, 1980 and two son's Raymond and Orville.
