Mary Ellen “Nicky” Irving, 68, of 1618 Somerset Lane died Saturday, September 8, 2007 at home surrounded by her family.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10am, Tuesday, September 11, 2007 at St. Patrick’s
Catholic Church with the Rev. Rudolph Juarez officiating. Burial will be at St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Friends may call Monday from 4 to 8 pm at Lensing Funeral and Cremation
Service, Iowa City, where a Rosary will be recited at 4pm and a Vigil Service will be held at 7pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Iowa City Hospice or the St. Patrick’s Building Fund.

Nicky was born September 16, 1938 in Iowa City, the daughter of George and Celeste
Lynch Pechous. She was a graduate of St. Patrick’s High School and Marycrest College.
On May 1, 1965 Nicky married Jerome “Jerry” Irving at St. Patrick’s Church in Iowa City.

Nicky had been an accountant in the University of Iowa Business Office, until her
retirement in 1998.

She was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, the Altar and Rosary Society,
and St. Patrick’s God’s Helping Hands.

Nicky cherished the time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren. She liked
to read, quilt and travel.

The family would like to extend their appreciation to Iowa City Hospice for all the care and support they provided.

Nicky is survived by her husband Jerry and their four children.
Michael and Debra Irving of Gilbert, AZ. and their children Colin and Elise,
Matthew and Lisa Irving of North Liberty and their daughters Elaina, Mia and Ava,
Brett and Dianne Irving of Iowa City and their sons Mason and Carson, and
Julie Irving of Iowa City; three Brothers, Dr. Paul (Nancy) Pechous of Dubuque, Edward (Marilyn) Pechous of Iowa City, Raymond (Mary) Pechous of Iowa City; one sister,
Margaret (Thomas) Goss of Becket, MA; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
