Mrs. Strub, 85, Succumbs Today

Marie (Mamie) Strub 85, of 515 North Van Buren street, died this morning in Mercy Hospital. She was hospitalized three weeks ago when she fell and broke her hip.

Mrs. Strub was born in Iowa City August 1, 1871, in the home where she lived at the time of her death. She was the daughter of John A. and Rosa (Kintz) Bolei. She was married August 27, 1890, to John E. Strub.

The couple farmed northeast of Iowa City from 1891 to 1918, then moved to Iowa City. She was a member of the First English Lutheran church.

Survivors include two sons, Charles F. and Frank J. Strub, and a step-son, Edward A. Strub, all of Iowa City; five grandsons; nine great grandchildren, and a brother, John Bolei, of Cedar Rapids. Her husband died in 1943.

Services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. in the First English Lutheran church with the Rev. Roy Wingate officiating. Burial will be in Oakland cemetery. Friends may call at the Oathout funeral home until noon Thursday.
