SOLON RESIDENT DIES AT HOME OF DAUGHTER IN WEST LIBERTY
WEST LIBERTY - Mrs. Ferdinand Wirtner, 89, well-known resident of Solon, died Wednesday night at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Maude Merridith, with whom she had lived for the last 16 months. She had been in failing health for some time and had been bedfast since March 3.

Mrs. Wirtner was born in Lancaster, Ohio, June 28, 1849, the daughter of Thomas and Emily Adams White. She was the second of seven children. When she was 14 her parents came to Johnson county. After a short time the family moved to Linn county, returning later to settle near Solon.

She was married to Mr. Ferdinand Wirtner July 2, 1871. He died February 7, 1903. Of the seven children born to them, the only one surviving is Mrs. Merridith. There are 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Wirtner was a member of St. Mary's church of Solon, of the Altar and Rosary societies and of the Woman's Relief Corps.

Funeral arrangements are in charge of the Conner funeral home of West Liberty.
