SOLON - Joseph Nicholas Umbdenstock, 87, died Sunday at the Solon Care Center after a short illness.

He was born March 3, 1896, in Solon, a son of George and Anna (Stahle) Umbdenstock. He was a carpenter and served in the Army during World War I. He belonged to St. Mary's Catholic Church in Solon and was a member of the Solon American Legion.

He is survived by his nephew, Dahl Umbdenstock of Iowa City.

Funeral services were Thursday at St. Mary's Church in Solon, with the Rev. Francis Lenoch officiating.
