IOWA CITY

Carter B. Holt, 92, of 1630 Crescent Street, Iowa City, died Tuesday evening, October 22, 2002, at the Veterans Hospital in Knoxville, Iowa, following a short illness.

Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 26, 2002, at the Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service, 605 Kirkwood Avenue, Iowa City, with the Reverend Orlando R. Dial, officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery, Iowa City. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Carter B. Holt Memorial Fund.

Carter B. Holt was born July 9, 1910, in Montrose, Iowa, the son of Perry and Emma (Carter) Holt. He moved with his family at the age of ten to Iowa City. He graduated from City High School and attended the University of Iowa. He served as a sergeant in the United States Army during WWII. Carter was united in marriage to Lily Tate on June 30, 1951, in Iowa City. The couple made their home in Iowa City, where he worked as a custodian for the University of Iowa in the library building. He had been a member of the Bethel AME Church, and the Masonic Lodge in Cedar Rapids.

Mr. Holt is survived by his wife, Lily of Iowa City.

He was preceded in death by his parents and four sisters, Blanche, Violet, Letisha, and Faye.
