Joseph Klinsky, 85

Joseph (Joe) W. Klinsky, 85, Ames, Iowa, formerly of Cedar Rapids and Iowa City, died March 12, 2007 at Green Hills Care Center, following an extended illness.

Visitation in Ames will be at Stevens Memorial Chapel on March 15 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. A visitation will also be held in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, at the Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home on Saturday, March 17, 2007, from 1:00 to 2:00 pm. The funeral service will start at 2:00 pm.

Joe married Marianne Trejtnar in 1943. They had four children, and he was involved in Scouts in the Iowa City area with his two sons. He worked for many years as an Industrial Hygienist for the University of Iowa before continuing his career with Iowa State University.

He was active in many professional organizations, and served as chair of the Iowa branch of the American Industrial Hygiene Association and the American Institute of Chemical Engineers. Upon his retirement in 1986 he worked with a wide range of community organizations and enjoyed the extensive rose gardens that he and Marianne cultivated.

Joe is survived by his wife, Marianne, two sons, Dennis (Rose) of Ontario, Canada, and Ronald Gary (Pam) Klinsky of Spencer, Iowa, and two grandchildren, Sonja and Aaron, along with many loving friends and relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother and two daughters, Janice Ellen and Pamela Sue Fisher.
