Richard J. Walton, 70, of Voorhees, New Jersey died Saturday, October 12, 2002, after a lengthy illness.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church 11:00am Wednesday With Rev. Michael Phillips officiating. Friends may call Wednesday 9:00am – 10:30am at Lensing Funeral and Cremation Service, Iowa City. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Arthritis Foundation.

Mr. Walton was born April 20, 1932, in Iowa City, Iowa, the son of Harry and Loretta Deatch Walton. He married Rachel Kessler on September 10, 1956, at St. Wenceslaus Church in Iowa City. In 1958, he received his BS degree in chemical engineering from the University of Iowa. He served in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict. Since 1958 he was an executive account sales associate with PPG Industries.

He is survived by his wife, Rachel Walton of Voorhees, New Jersey, one daughter, Renee Skuraton and her husband, Alan of Gillette, New Jersey; two sons, Bruce Walton and his wife, Patricia of Rockwood, New Jersey, and Ronald Walton Clayton, Orlean, Pennsylvania; one brother, Donald Walton and his wife, Dolores; and five granddaughters, Kara, Jenny, AnnaGrace, Haly and Alexandria.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Darlene.
