Ralph W. Gerot, 73, of 4547 520th Street, Iowa City, died Saturday evening, October 12, 2002 at his home following a lengthy illness.

Graveside services will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday, October 14, 2002, at St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Hills, Iowa, with the Reverend Louis Leonhardt, and Carol Kaalberg, parish life coordinator, officiating. There is no visitation scheduled. The Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service, 605 Kirkwood Avenue, Iowa City is in charge of the arrangements. Ralph W. Gerot was born May 24, 1929, in Iowa City, the son of Harley George and Elma Charlotte (Fountain) Gerot. He was raised and educated in the Iowa City area. He was united in marriage to Doris A. Sueppel on October 16, 1951 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Iowa City. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Following the conflict he returned to Iowa City, where they farmed and made their home east of Hills. He was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hills.

Ralph is survived by his wife, Doris, three sons; Steven Gerot and his wife, Carol of Dearborn, Missouri, David Gerot and his wife, Mary Jo of Bon Aqua, Tennessee, William Gerot and his wife, Betty of Iowa City, five grandchildren; Megan and her friend, Nick James, Christina and her husband, Jason James, Kelly and her husband, Chad Rogers, Glen and Gretchen, six great-grandchildren, Caitlin, Christopher, Hailey, Jaxson, Cody and Kortney, also his sister of Colorado.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter, Kathryn Gerot.
