Ralph Coblentz, age 62 of 605 Greenwood Manor, Iowa City, died Sunday, May 12, 2002 at the Greenwood Manor Care Center in Iowa City following a lengthy illness.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, May 16, 2002 at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City with the Reverend Curtis Miller officiating. Burial will be at the Oak Hill Cemetery in Tiffin. Visitation will be from 5 to 8pm Wednesday at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established in his name. Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service of Iowa City are caring for Ralph’s services and his family.

Ralph was born December 1, 1939 in rural Johnson County, the son of Christ and Edna (Thomas) Coblentz. He attended rural Johnson County schools. For a number of years he worked in the construction field, for a number of different contractors.

His family includes his step-mother, Geraldine Coblentz of Tiffin; sisters, Dorothy and her husband, Harold Vesely of Iowa City, Katie and her husband, Chester Miller of Central City, Esther Coblentz of Iowa City, Shirley Gilbert of Goshen, IN, Mary Ellen and her husband, Randy Madden of Tiffin, Helen Coblentz of Iowa City, and Arlene Coblentz of Riverside; brothers, Dewayne Coblentz of Tiffin, Everett Coblentz of Iowa City, and Danny and his wife, Joyce Coblentz of Shellsburg, Iowa; five children.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and two infant sisters.
