Charles “Chuck” Evans, 56, North Liberty, Iowa, died Friday, March 29, 2002 at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics after losing a battle with cancer.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 3, 2002 at the Christ the King Lutheran Church in Iowa City, followed by a graveside service at Ridgewood Cemetery in North Liberty. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4-8 at the Gay and Ciha Funeral Home in Iowa City. There will also be a viewing at 9:00 a.m. at the church prior to the service.

Mr. Evans was born January 31, 1946 in Rockford, Illinois to Charles G. and Minnie C. Evans. He was a 1964 graduate of Rockford West High School.
Mr. Evans worked for a time as a deputy sheriff in Winnebago County, Illinois and remained a life-long supporter of law enforcement, helping to charter the first Blue Knights Motorcycle Club Chapter in Clinton, Iowa with his friend and Clinton Police Officer David Gorman.

After working in the Rockford area, Mr. Evans moved to Clinton, Iowa where he was President and Co-owner of Nelson Cashway Lumber Company.

In 1991, he moved to the Iowa City area, and founded the Century Roofing Company in Coralville.

Memberships include Iowa City Moose Lodge and the Eagle Club of Clinton.

Survivors include loving wife Candance, three sons; Christopher of Clinton, Jason of rural Williamsburg, Shawn of Galesburg, Illinois, two daughters; Stacey of Cedar Rapids, Shelly of North Liberty, and two daughters-in-law, Michelle and Jody, four grandchildren, Nicki, Cody, Haley, and Alycia; and brother Robert Evans Sr., sister Mary McDonnell, both of Clinton, and sister Cathie LaForge of Oregon.
