Edna M. Gardner, age 92 of 3055 Wapsi Road NE, Iowa City died Wednesday, July 31, 2002 at her home following an extended illness.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 3, 2002 at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City, with the Reverend Richard Paulus officiating. Burial will be at the Fairview Cemetery, rural Johnson County. Visitation will be from 4 to 7pm, Friday at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made in her memory to Iowa City Hospice. Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service of Iowa City are caring for Edna’s services and her family.

Mrs. Gardner was born February 8, 1910, in Exeland, Wisconsin, the daughter of Joas H. and Polly Miller Kauffman. She married Roscoe Alvin Gardner in 1930. The couple has farmed in the Graham Township Area of Johnson County all their married lives. Roscoe died August 22, 1959. She has continued to live on their farm until her death.

She was a member of the West Branch United Methodist Church and the Morse Community Club. Edna’s passions included her family, friends, quilting, gardening, flowers, cooking, baking pies and the beauty of Iowa as seen from her front porch.

Her family includes two sons, Edgar and his wife, Rosie Gardner of Napa, CA; and John B. Gardner of Iowa City; daughter, Marjorie Skriver of Hills; eight grandchidlren and ten great-grandchildren, brother, Harvey C. and his wife, Alma Kauffman of Napa, CA.

Edna was preceded in death by her parents, and six brothers and sisters.
