Wilma M. Garwood 1918-2002

Wilma M. Garwood age 83 of 607 Walnut St. Iowa City died following a lengthy illness on Friday at the Iowa City Rehabilitation and Care Center in Iowa City. Funeral Services will be on Tuesday at 10:30 at the Gay and Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City, burial will be at Memory Garden Cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday at the funeral home from 5 to 8 p.m. Memorial may given to Iowa City Rehabilitation and Care Center.

Wilma was born on July 25, 1918 in Riverside, Iowa the daughter of Alvin E. and Cora Mabel Coon Marshall. She graduated from Riverside High School and married Ken Garwood on October 3, 1939 in Riverside. For many years Wilma worked at the information desk at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics until her retirement. She was a member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Iowa City. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, playing the piano and keyboard, gardening, flowers, playing cards and most of all her family.

Her family includes one son Keith and wife Linda Garwood of Burlington, one daughter Janet and husband Lamar Troutman of Salinas, California, two grandson Matt and Brian Garwood, two sisters Ramona and husband Clifford Bell of Iowa City and Dorothy Evans of Kalona, one brother Bernard and wife Lottie Garwood of Iowa City, two sister in-law Nelli Marshall of North Ridge, California and Doris Marshall of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.

Her parents, two brothers Maynard and Harold Marshall preceded her in death. The Gay and Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service are caring for Wilma and her family.
