Pat H. Grantham, age 53 of 709 7th. Avenue, Coralville, died Thursday, Janaury 24, 2002 at his home of an apparent heart attack.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m., Monday, January 28, 2002 at the New Horizons Methodist Church in Coralville with the Reverend Chuck Kelsey officiating. Family graveside services will be held later in the day at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Iowa City. Visitation will be from 4 to 6pm Sunday at Gay & Ciha Funeral & Cremation Service in Iowa City. In Lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society or the New Horizons Methodist Church.

Mr. Grantham was born October 16, 1948 in Algona, Iowa the son of Wayne Dudek and Harriet Jane (Schlotfelt) Grantham. He graduated from City High School in 1966, received his BA
Degree in teaching and his Masters Degree from the University of Iowa in Special Education. Pat married Linda Bryant on May 6, 1967 in Iowa City. Following college Pat taught kindergarten class in a school in Janesville, Wisc., he then returned to Iowa City where he taught school at the University Hospital Schools. And prior to his retirement he taught school in West Branch School District for nearly 15years.

He was a charter member of the New Horizons Methodist Church where he was active in teaching Sunday School, bible study and preaching; had been active in counseling and participating in support groups for the Multiple Sclerosis Society, member of the the Purestodge Motorcycle Association, Mississippi Valley Motorcycle Club, and the American Motorcycle Association.

His family includes his mother, Harriett Grantham Dean of Coralville; wife, Linda of Coralville, son and his wife, Ty and Melynda Grantham of Fayetteville, Ark.; daughter and her husband, Leah and Dennis Cronk of Coralville; grandchildren, Gunnar Grantham, Woody Marshall, and Nicholas Cronk; and a brother and his wife, Gary and Terri Grantham of Solon.

He was preceded in death by his father, Wayne on February 23, 1969.

Pat will be remembered for his love of motorcycles, putting over 200,000 miles on his bikes; respected by all for his determination, courage, and independence in the wake of his disability. His family wishes to thank all of you, who through out the years, gave him a helping hand to keep on going. And finally to those of you who ride, bring your bikes to Pat’s services, as a way of celebrating his passion for life!
