Lois Louise Horstmann, age 76, formerly of 1851 Melrose Avenue, Iowa City, died Thursday, April 25, 2002 at Hospice of Central Iowa Kavanagh House in Des Moines of cancer.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, April 29, 2002 at the St Andrew Presbyterian Church in Iowa City with the Reverend Kyle Otterbein officiating. Private family committal services will be held at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Iowa City. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to Hospice of Central Iowa, 1851 West Grand Avenue, West Des Moines, Iowa, 50265. Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service of Iowa City are caring for Lois’ services and her family.

Lois was born December 26, 1925 in Iowa City the daughter of Milford M. and E. Gladys (Wylie) Breese. She graduated from the University of Iowa in 1946. On June 9, 1946 she married Donald G. Horstmann in Iowa City. The couple made their home in Iowa City for many years, where Lois worked as a librarian at the University of Iowa Library.

She was a member of St. Andrew Presbyterian Church in Iowa City. Lois loved to read, enjoyed walking, spending winters in Texas, and spending time with her family and friends.

Her family includes, her daughter, Debbie Primmer of Cedar Rapids, two sons and their wives, Randall and Linda Horstmann of Des Moines, and Eric and Laura Horstmann of Des Moines; sister, Marjorie Borgerding of Paducah, KY; sister-in-law, Helene Lampmann of San Jose, CA; five grandchildren, Forrest Primmer, Kathryn Primmer, Andrew Primmer, Kimberly Greth, and McKenna Horstmann; two step-grandchildren, Shannon Clark and Stacey Roach; three great-grandchildren, Lindsay and Allison Greth, MacKenzie Oakley; five step-great grandchildren, Kirby and Cody Clark, Spencer, Timmy, and Tori Roach.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Donald on September 1, 1992, and a brother, Merle Breese.
