Sarah Leta Kahler, formerly of Oxford, Iowa died Thursday, August 15, 2002 at the united Presbyterian Home in Washington, Iowa. She was 95.

Funeral services will be on Sunday, August 18, 2002 at 2:30 p.m. at the Gay and Ciha Funeral Service in Iowa City. Burial will be in the Oxford Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Saturday, August 17, 2002 from 1 to 5 pm at the Gay and Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City.

Mrs. Kahler was born May 30, 1907 in rural Urbana, Missouri, one of four children of Samuel and Annie (Grainger) Bruner. She came with her siblings to the Iowa City area in the 1920’s for education and employment.

She married Christy Kahler on January 1, 1930 at the Kahler home near Oxford. They lived their entire married life in the Oxford area. She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Kahler was a member of the Methodist Church in Oxford.

She is survived by one son, Dennis (Dorothy) Kahler of Iowa City; two daughters; Delsena (Richard) Henningfield of Washington, Iowa and Lureta (Dick) Gibson of Deepwater, Missouri; six grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; on sister, Mina Edwards of Oxford, one niece Loretta (Don) Kerr of Oxford along with one nephew Ron (Donna) Bruner of Fairfield, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her husband, two brothers Dean and Clifton, one grandson Carl Webb and one nephew Lynnford Edwards.
