Thomas G. Kanak age 52 of Iowa City died on Thursday, February 28, 2002 at the Parkview Manor Care Center in Wellman following an extended illness. Graveside services will be on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at memory Gardens Cemetery in Iowa City. Memorials may be given to Parkview Manor or to Chatham Oaks. Visitation will be held on Monday at the Gay and Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service, please watch for visitation times in Monday’s paper.

Tom was born on September 28, 1949 in Iowa City the son of Robert F. and Vieva A. Kanak. He attended the University Handicapped School, Longfellow Elementary and Glenwood State School. He lived at Chatham Oaks in Iowa City from 1970 until 2000 when he moved to Parkview Manor in Wellman. He was a member of First Methodist Church of Iowa City and was a loyal Hawkeye and an avid Chicago Cubs fan.

He is survived by his father and step mother DeLila of Iowa City: one Brother Robert and wife Linda Kanak of Fort Smith, AR. Three nephews Shaun and wife Lisa Kanak of Fredericksburg, Va., Jason and wife Jennifer Kanak and Weston Kanak all of Lowell, AR.

He was preceded in death by his Mother.
