Sarah “Sadie” Kane, age 66 of 1010 Scott Park Drive, Iowa City died Tuesday, January 29, 2002 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City following a brief illness.

Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 2, 2002 at Gay & Ciha Funeral & Cremation Service in Iowa City. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m., Saturday until services. A memorial fund has been established in her name.

Sadie was born February 2, 1935 in rural Johnson County, Iowa the daughter of George and Minnie (Sexton) Baines. She married Lester Kane, November 20, 1954 in Iowa City. For a short period of time she worked a Miller’s Café in Lone Tree, after this she cared for her family in their home.

Her family includes, four sons and their wives, Lester and Deann Kane of Holland, Iowa, Kenny and Kathy Kane of Lone Tree, Denny and Pam Kane of Wilton, Iowa, and Robert and Kyong of Las Vegas, NV; twenty-four grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren, brothers, John Baines of Hills, and Amil Baines of Columbus, GA; sisters, Ruby Seydel of Iowa City, Mary Bittenger of Indianola, Ann Goodwin of Lubbock, TX, and Pearl Ruthledge of Clinton, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sons, Clarence Jeffrey Kane and John Paul Kane, 4 brothers and 2 sisters.
