Lora E. Lehmkuhl, age 88 of Coralville and Iowa City area died Sunday, April 28, 2002 at the Lantern Park Nursing and Rehab Center following a short illness.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, May 2, 2002 at the Oakdale Cemetery in Adel, Iowa with the Reverend Neil Montz officiating. A time of visitation for friends and family will be held from 4 to 6pm Wednesday at Gay & CIA Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to the American Cancer Society. Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service are caring for Lora’s services and her family.

Mrs. Lehmkuhl was born to David and Edna Schoonover on July 26, 1913 in Des Moines, Iowa. Except for a brief time during WWII, she lived her entire life in Iowa. She married Kenneth Bigelow on September 16, 1933. He died in January of 1962. Mrs. Lehmkuhl worked many yeas as a secretary in the Des Moines Department of Education. She married John Lehmkuhl on December 17, 1966 and resided on an acreage south of Adel, Iowa. After her husband’s death, Mrs. Lehmkuhl moved to Iowa City in 1986.

Her family includes her daughter and husband, Barbara and Harold Dillon of Coralville, one brother, Forest Schoonover of Des Moines, and two sisters, Gretchen Schoonover of Des Moines, and Pauline Norman of Livingston, LA; many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by both of her husbands, and a sister, Virginia Heinig.
