Mary Louise (White) Mathew, age 82 of 1112 E. Church Street, Iowa City died at her home Thursday, November 8, 2001 following a sudden illness.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 13, 2001 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Iowa City with the Reverend Michael Phillips officiating. Burial will be at the St. Joseph Cemetery in Iowa City. Visitation will be from 4 to 8pm Monday at the Gay & Ciha Funeral & Cremation Service in Iowa City where a parish vigil service will be said at 6pm and a Loyal Order of Moose Memorial Service at 7:30 pm Monday.

Mary Louise Ruth was born May 22, 1919 in Adair County, Iowa the daughter of Charles and Regina (Murphy) Ruth. She married Joseph G. White April 12, 1937 in Stuart, Iowa. Born to this union were three children, Janet, Kay and Jim.

Mary worked for Lenoch & Cilek, Pearsons, ACT, and the Iowa City Community School System. She was a member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Altar & Rosary Society, Women of the Moose, and Eagles Lodge. She volunteered at the Senior Citizens Center.

Her family includes, two daughters and their spouses, Janet and Bob Edmonds of Cedar Rapids, Kay and Dave Ciha of Kalona; one son, Jim White of North Liberty; grandchildren, Becky, Gina, Kathy, Tami, Jodi, Angie and Lynn; great-grandchildren, Romara, Amber, Cody, Raejean, Gregory, Amanda, Zach, Blake, Brittany, and Joseph; and a great-great-grandchildren, Raenique; brother, Bernard of LeMesa, CA; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Joseph; brother, Leonard,; sister, Alice, and a grandson, Tom.

Mary enjoyed life to the fullest, loved visiting, laughing and spending time with the family she loved.
