Leo H. “Bud” Meyers age 78 of 2005 Rochester Ave. Iowa City died at his home on Friday after a short illness with his family around him. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 am on Tuesday, October 1, 2002 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Iowa City, burial will at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery, there will be no visitation. Memorials are to Amenity Hospice or St. Mary Catholic Church in Iowa City. The Gay and Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service are caring for Bud’s services and his family.

Leo was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa on September 5, 1924 the son of Leo and Blance Rogers Meyers. He attended Roosevelt School in Cedar Rapids and married Betty Jane Hansen on June 23, 1944 in Iowa City. Leo served his county during WWII as a member of the Navy. He was stationed in California and returned to Cedar Rapids in 1946, then to Iowa City in 1947. He worked for his uncle Merle Meyers who owned the Studebaker Dealership, in 1967 Leo purchased a body shop called Meyers Motors from his uncle, he then formed a partnership and bought the Chrysler Dealership in 1969 known as McGurk-Meyers. He was a member of the Rotary Club, St. Mary Catholic Church, was involved with Score, System Unlimited, Regina and was a supporter of University of Iowa Athletics. His hobbies included Woodworking, Gardening, and Dancing; he was an avid Bridge player.

His family includes two sons: Thomas and wife Trudy Meyers of Coralville, Roger Meyers of Iowa City: one daughter Deborah Meyers and husband Rick Rowe of Batavia, Iowa: two grandchildren: Carrie and husband Ted Johnson of Atlanta, Georgia, Tammy and husband Charlie Romero of McLean, Virginia, two great-grandchildren, Zachary Johnson and Ava Romero, twin sister Betty Lee and husband Joe Scott of Cedar Rapids.

His parents, wife in 1998, sister Bille Meyers and uncle Merle Meyers preceded him in death.
