Dorothy Henrietta Herring Miller, age 72 of 5066 American Legion Rd. S.E., Iowa City, died Saturday, November 17, 2001 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City after an extended illness.

Private family services and burial will be held on Wednesday, November 21, 2001. Visitation for Mrs. Miller will be held at the Gay & Ciha Funeral & Cremation Service in Iowa City from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials donations may be made to Mercy Home Heath Care in Iowa City.

Mrs. Miller was born February 27, 1929, in Iowa City, Iowa, the daughter of James H. and Ruth H. (Rees) Herring. She graduated from Iowa City City High School in 1947. For many years she worked for the Iowa City Community School District starting in food service, later as an educational associate, and retiring as the District Media Processing Clerk.

She married Donald T. Miller on June 24, 1947, in Iowa City. They lived at 429 S.Van Buren, in Iowa City for many years before moving to their present home sixteen years ago.

Her family includes, husband, Donald; three sons, Steven Miller and his wife Brenda of Iowa City, Tom Miller and his wife Deanna of Iowa City, Jim Miller and his wife Therese` of Palmyra, PA.; Daughter, Kathryn Keely and her husband Terry of Iowa City; ten grandchildren, Kristina, Matt, Jenny, Shelly, Ashley, Jamie, and Travis Miller, Chad, Ryan, and Lesley Keely; two great grandchildren, Anthony and Isaiah.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, James Jr. Herring.
