Alice Edith Osbon passed away peacefully two days short of her 97th birthday on Thursday, May 2, 2002, in Austin, Texas. She was a former Iowa City resident.

Graveside services will be held Tuesday, May 7, 2002 at 10 am at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Iowa City with the Reverend Robert E. Holzhammer officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Iowa City Hospice or the American Cancer Society of Johnson County. Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service of Iowa City are caring for Alice’s services and her family.

She was born May 4, 1905 in Catonsville, Maryland. She had lived in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Massachusetts and Iowa before settling in Texas.

Her family includes her daughter in law, Joan H. Osbon of Georgetown, Texas; grandson, James D. and wife Brenda of Driftwood, Texas; granddaughter, Janet E. McLaughlin of Sunnyvale, California ; and seven great grandchildren.

Edith was preceded in death by her husband, John W. Osbon, and by her son, Dr. Donald B. Osbon.

She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She loved to knit, sew and play bridge.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Iowa City Hospice or the American Cancer Society of Johnson County.
