Howard J. Prybil, age 81, of Marshalltown, formerly of Iowa City, died at Marshalltown Medical & Surgical Center on Thursday, May 23, 2002 following a lengthy illness.

Graveside services will be held at 9:00, Saturday, June 1, 2002 at Oakland Cemetery in Iowa City, Iowa with Reverend Michael Phillips officiating. There will be no visitation. Military honors will be provided by Coralville American Legion Walter Johnson Post 721 assisted by Local Military Organizations. Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service of Iowa City are caring for Howard’s family and his services.

Howard was born on April 13, 1921 in Iowa City, the son of Rudolph and Beatrice (Picha) Prybil. He attended the University of Iowa. He served his country during WWII and married Delores Nichols on July 27, 1945. He resided in Kansas City for twenty years and then Marshalltown for the past twenty years.

His family includes his sons: Jimmy M. Prybil of Friendswood, TX and Terry H. Prybil of Marshalltown; four granddaughters: Cary Davis of Gilbert, AZ, Corinda Prybil of Raleigh, NC, Natasha Prybil and Alexander Prybil both of Friendswood, TX. He has two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister and two daughters-in-law.
