John “Jack” Reichardt Sr. age 74 of 1734 F. St. Iowa City died at his home on Saturday, March 16 following a sudden illness.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, March 21, 2002 at 6 p.m. at the Gay and Ciha Funeral and Cremation service in Iowa City. Visitation will be from 4 until service time, a memorial fund has been established in Jack’s name.

Jack was born on August 9, 1927 in Iowa City the son of George H. and Hazel Weekes Reichardt. He attended St. Birchmans Catholic School in Cedar Rapids and the University High School in Iowa City. He joined the Merchant Marines in December 7, 1941 and served until August 15, 1945. Jack married Lila Jean Fliss on May 17 1947 in Iowa City, and has lived in the Iowa City area since then. He drove truck for Harney Oil and then worked for Dunlap Motors retiring as parts manager. Jack loved to go mushroom hunting, playing cards and the lottery.

He is survived by one son John Jr. and wife Donna of Iowa City; one daughter Becky and husband Brian Bergmann of Clarence: five grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and one brother George and wife Alyce of Marion.
Preceding him in death were his parents, one daughter Sandra in 1965, wife in 1994: two brothers Jerry and Richard.
