Rhea Grace Rogers, age 90 of 320 E. Washington Street, died Thursday, November 29, 2001 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City following a short illness.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday at Gay & Ciha Funeral & Cremation Service in Iowa City. Private family committal services will be held later at the Moline Memorial Park Cemetery in Moline, Illinois. Visitation will be from 4 to 7pm today at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to Ecumenical Towers in Iowa City.

She was born December 11, 1910, in Keota, Iowa the daughter of Wilbur and Leona (Longenecker) Palmer. Rhea graduated from Keota High School in 1929. On October 23, 1933 she married John Geisburger Rogers in Kirksville, MO. For many years she owned and operated Rhea’s Beauty Salon in Riverdale, LeClaire and Keota. She was also a cosmetic buyer for McCabe’s Department Store in Rock Island. Mr. Rogers died May 30, 1973. She moved to Iowa City in 1995 to be near her son and his family.

Rhea was a member of Eastern Star, Fortnightly Club, she taught classes at Rex’s Beauty Academy in Davenport; served as house mother for Alpha Gamma Sorority and Phi Gamma Fraternity both at the University of Iowa, and the Lambda Chi Fraternity at Iowa State University.

Her family includes three sons, John Rogers of Iowa City, Lance Rogers and his wife, Sandy of Sigourney, and Randall Rogers and his wife, Shirley of Coralville; 9 grandchildren including, Rachelle and her husband, Sean Spann, and Rob and his wife, Sara Rogers.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 1 sister, and two brothers.
