Ivan D. Runyan, age 85 of Walden Place, Iowa City died at his home Sunday, November 18, 2001 following an extended illness.

Graveside services will be held at 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, November 20, 2001 at the Bondurant Cemetery, Bondurant, Iowa. The Gay & Ciha Funeral & Cremation Service of Iowa City is caring for Mr. Runyan’s arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Iowa City Hospice at 1025 Wade Street, Iowa, IA, 52240.

Mr. Runyan was born February 17, 1916, in Mason City, NE, the son of Oscar Day and Jennie Florella (Dady) Runyan. He was a sheet metal fabricator with North American Aviation, in Los Angles, CA, and later with the mechanical shop at Iowa State University, until his retirement in 1977.

He married Genevieve Ruth Stoner on May 30, 1942 in Las Vegas, NV. They lived in Ames, IA from 1960 until 1986, when they moved to Sedalia, MO. They have resided in Iowa City since 1996. Mr. Runyan was a member of the American Legion of Coralville, IA.

His family includes his wife, Genevieve, two daughters, Karen Petersen of Milwaukee, WI, Mary Runyan of Coralville; two sons, Donald Runyan and his wife Beth of Lathrop, MI, Dennis Runyan of Iowa City; a brother, Ray Runyan, and his wife Dorothy of Altoona, IA, and sister, Arlene Lewis of Bondurant, IA; three grandchildren, Stephen, Michael, and Kristen Peterson, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Ralph and Cloyde and three sisters, Louise, Frances, and Lyllus.
