Anna M. Schrum, age 76 of 1210 Village Road, Iowa City died Thursday, August 15, 2002 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City from complications of heart surgery.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, August 19, 2002 at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 pm Sunday at the funeral home. Memorial Donations can be made to the American Heart Association or to the American Diabetes Association. Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service of Iowa City is caring for Anna’s services and her family.

“Ann” was born June 20, 1926, in Iowa City the daughter of Edwin and Vera (Skriver) Hughes. She graduated from Iowa City City High School in 1944. On February 7, 1948, she married Wayne F. Schrum here in Iowa City. For a number of years she worked for Northwestern Bell in Iowa City and later at the University of Iowa Credit Union retiring in 1981.

She was a member of the Iowa City Elks Club, Moose Lodge, and the Congregational Church of Christ. Ann was an avid bridge player, enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, playing golf in league at the Highpoint Golf Course.

Her family includes her husband, Wayne; two sons, Larry and his wife, Barbara Schrum of Marshalltown, and Doug Schrum of Hiawatha; three grandchildren, Jacob, Elizabeth, and Ethan; brother, Dale Hughes of Iowa City.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and three brothers, Paul, Bert and Perry Hughes.
