Howard E. Schultz, age 81 of 1418 Rochester Avenue, Iowa City died Tuesday, August 6, 2002 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City following an extended illness.

Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m., Friday, August 9, 2002 at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City with the Reverend Robert Gebel officiating. Burial will be at a later in Sylvania, Ohio. Visitation will be from 4 to 7pm Friday at the funeral home. Memorial donations can be in Howard’s memory to Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Iowa City. Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service is caring for Howard’s services and his family.

Howard was born February 15, 1921 in Toledo, Ohio the son of Edward F. and Martha T. (Pollex) Schultz. He married Rose M. Maxfield, September 15, 1945 in Toledo. He started employment with Owens Brush Company in Toledo, later transferring to the Iowa City Branch in 1958. He had worked for Owens Brush later Oral B. Labs for over forty-five years retiring in 1985.

He was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Iowa City, a member of the Johnson County Farm Bureau, and had a passion for antique cars, belonging to the Antique Automobile Club of America (AACA).

Howard’s family includes his wife, Rose; son, Kenneth H. Schultz of Coralville; daughter and her husband, Patricia S. and Charles Finlay of Strongsville, OH, two grandchildren, Sara and James Finlay.
